課程概述

Usually, the original purpose of a secondary database is far from academic research. Therefore, it is necessary to perform an extraction and/or reconstruction of the database prior to undertaking an analysis. This course consists of two parts. The first part of the course offers introduction to secondary health datasets, examples of studies using secondary health database, and practical framework and principles for conducting epidemiological research. Key skills needed during conducting analysis of secondary data will then be offered in the second part of the course. Finally, students have to undergo in-class test at the last week of the semester. 

課程目標
The purpose of this course is to help students who are interested in but are not capable of analyzing secondary database to know the concepts and learn the basic skills for large secondary data analysis. 
課程要求
The main statistic program used in this course is SAS. Each student has to prepare a lap-top computer which has been installed with a SAS program to practice in and after class. Homework will be assigned after each class during the second part of the course and all the students have to hand over the reports. Students have to pass the final exam at the end of the semester.
